Casino Poker Rules: Five Card Stud
The Basics
This Poker, which you may see billed as Cyber Stud Poker at some UK online casinos, pits the player in direct competition with the dealer. Play is preceded by the placing of an ante bet, following which player and dealer receive their five cards – the dealer's hand is laid four cards down and one face up for the player to assess. The player can then choose to fold their hand or raise their bet to ‘see' the dealer's hand. The dealer's hand must hold an Ace / King combination or better to qualify – if it does, the highest ranking of the two hands wins. If the player wins, their payout is.
This casino-style of Poker (which you may see called Cyber Stud Poker) is a card game where each player is pitted against the dealer rather than against each other. Once you've placed an ante bet you receive your hand while the dealer receives theirs, four cards down and one face up for you to see. You then have the opportunity to bet on or fold your hand depending on how you rate your chances of beating the dealer when they finally reveal their full hand. If you choose to bet, the dealer's hand is then revealed. You win if the dealer's hand fails to qualify for consideration (i.e. it doesn't include an Ace/ King combination or better) or qualifies but is beaten in comparison to your hand. The payoff you receive for winning is related to the strength of the hand you win with.
