Video Poker Rules: Jacks or Better
This Video Poker is a common format you'll find in many of the UK online casinos we list. For anyone completely new to playing Video Poker, we have a Beginners' Guide (found here) which explains the basic objectives of the game and how the game proceeds. Understanding the ranking of Poker hands is also important to playing these machines, and the basics of this can be found here.
In a ‘Jacks or Better' variation of Video Poker, the title gives away that the minimum hand a player requires to get a payout is a pair of Jacks. A typical payout table for a UK online casino's Jacks or Better game is set out below:
| Hand | Payouts |
| Royal Flush | 250 to 1 |
| Straight Flush | 40 to 1 |
| Four Of A Kind | 20 to 1 |
| Full House | 9 to 1 |
| Flush | 6 to 1 |
| Straight | 4 to 1 |
| Three Of A Kind | 3 to 1 |
| Two Pairs | 2 to 1 |
| Jacks or Better (i.e. J-J, Q-Q, K-K, A-A) | 1 to 1 |
Also be aware that many machines will offer ‘bonus' odds for players staking the maximum bet allowed for a draw. These ‘Max Bet' bonuses can triple of quadruple the standard payout for the top prize. A ‘Max Bet' will also make a draw eligible for a Progressive Jackpot on Jacks or Better games that have this feature.
